Le Japon est une terre de contraste, mêlant campagnes traditionnelles et villes ultramodernes. Kyushu et Hokkaido, plus sauvages et plus discrètes que leur voisine, immergent instantanément le voyageur dans l'ancien Japon médiéval. A l'inverse, les villes de Tokyo et Osaka, sur Honshu, sont à elles-seules un condensé du pays du Soleil Levant. D'un quartier à l'autre le paysage urbain passe des immeubles dernier cri aux étroites ruelles bordées d'échoppes et de restaurants traditionnels. Partout, les senteurs de Ramen, les soupes traditionnelles japonaises, offrent un dépaysement olfactif aux voyageurs.
Une croisière permet d'aborder de manière itinérante les différentes régions et d'alterner entre l'ambiance effervescente des grandes villes et la sérénité des temples ancestraux.
